Short-term health insurance should only be considered during transition
periods between two standart health insurance policies. Short term health
insurance is usually available for between 1 and 12 month, but might also be
capped at 6 months. Therefore, it should only be considered by people that
are in a transition period, like recent graduates, people between jobs, on
strike or if you are a one person company and forsee that to change in the
near future. Short term health insurance works in general exactly like
regular health insurance, but there are a few exceptions, which includes
that routine and preventive care, like regular check ups, are not covered by
the policy. Most policies will also not cover dental or optical care you
might have during the time period of the short-term health insurance.
But, short-term health insurance will usually cover other services
offered by standart health insurance, like emergency medicine, prescription
drugs ambulance and things like that. To find out exactly what is covered,
contact an insurance agency offering short-term health insurance policies. |
